How we make our Organic Cherry Pit Heatings Pads
You might be wondering who makes our products, and how we make them! As you will see, our heating pads are made in small batches and receive much love and attention.
After testing a dozen organic materials, we found the perfect cozy organic cotton flannel fabric for our heating pillows.
We cut 10 yards at a time and wash (or scour, in natural dyeing terms) our fabric with pH neutral all-natural soap. Once the fabric is washed and dried, we measure and cut out the heating pillows.
Here’s the fun part: we make or wake up our organic Henna Indigo dye vat by heating it up or adding more dye. While we wait for the Indigo vat to awaken, we fold and tie our heating pillows to get unique dye-resist patterns.
When the indigo flower has formed on top of the vat, it’s time to dye our pillows. Each heating pad is dipped at least twice and up to four times to ensure a variety of shades of Indigo. Once they’re all dipped to our liking, they are rinsed, soaked in a vinegar solution and then washed and dried.
After trimming off the frayed ends, the fabric is ironed, sewn and filled with clean and dry cherry pits.
And Voila! Our organic, naturally-dyed heating pads are born!
No two pillows are alike, so your handcrafted organic cherry pit heating pad is truly one of a kind.
